| 2003 = 5 A YEAR OF FREEDOM By Gayla Gongwer The new year always brings with it possibilities and promises of new beginnings. Just as the newspapers are awash with ads for ways to clear and organize the nooks and crannies of your closets - the new year is a time to do the same for your psyche. Personally, I looked forward to this particular new year, a five year, with the great expectations of all it could be. I hoped that I had used the last four year to build the foundations for the freedom that this year promised. Freedom, not so much from others, but from myself. We all need freedom from the fears and inhibitions that can keep us from the path we needed when we chose to be here. If it isn't the cobwebs in the corners we need to clear, maybe it's time to tear down the walls we build around ourselves that keep us from listening to wisdom in the wind. The future blooms ahead - ripe with possibilities - it is only us that would prevent any of the fruit from growing rich and full. Just yesterday, a man looked at me with sometime akin to awe in his eyes, complimenting me on my "strength." I could only chuckle, of course, knowing that the strength certainly does not come from within me, but from those I let guide me. The only freedom we want or need is from ties we use to bind ourselves to negative pathways. |
