| Blindfold Billets By Rev. Kristine Fossatti The love of flowers is deeply seeded in my family. I can still see my Grandmother, whom I called Nana, wearing her thick rubber knee pads, on the ground and a scratcher in hand, working in one of her many beautiful flower gardens. My first ‘attempt’ at meditating was in 1987, outside my house, under the moon. I did slow deep breathing up my spine while focusing within the center of my head. I clearly remember seeing my Nana (in spirit). She gave me so many beautiful flowers - many I've never seen on the earth and colors so much brighter, and alive with light! And then my Dad's wonderful Aunt Leah came and gave me a big hug. When I came out of the meditation I had tears of joy flowing down my face. The next day my ego started to convince me that I'd imagined it like a dream, so I didn’t tell anyone. Two days later I went to the Wednesday service at Dr. Robert Ireland‘s church. During the service my Nana was there. (in spirit) Dr. Ireland told me she had a huge bouquet of roses for me, and also gave me a message. Then my Aunt Leah stepped up and said to tell me, “Don't doubt! You did see us the other night, and I did hug you!” I was blown away! That was my first experience with spirit and the ‘gifts of spirit.’ (Rev.) Dr. Robert Ireland also does what is called ‘blindfold billet’. There are also some wonderful mediums who demonstrate this gift at Camp Chesterfield in Indiana. As you enter the church you are handed a small plain piece of white paper. (that is the billet) During the service you address it to someone you know in spirit, like your guides/teachers, relatives, friends, and loved ones. You ask 2-3 questions you might have, then you sign your name and fold it a couple of times. When it is time for the 'gifts of spirit' someone goes around with a basket and picks up the billets. While that's taking place Dr. Ireland calls up a couple of people who haven’t seen it done before, to help him prepare. He tapes his eyes closed with several long strips of Johnson & Johnson’s sticky medical tape. He pinches any areas around his nose, so people can't say "hey, he can see through the cracks!" And on top of it he puts three heavy black cloth blindfolds. The two people then check the tape and each of them tie a blindfold behind his head. And in case you’re wondering, those people aren’t planted.. I’ve known some who were asked to help and they were very new to this! Dr. Ireland has been a medium, demonstrating his gifts for over 40 years and , this is only one of them. He can see through his 3rd eye (center of the forehead just above the physical eyes) and his solar plexus (stomach area above the navel), and has demonstrated this many times. Dr. Ireland not only sees, but hears spirit very clearly. His spirit guide/teacher Dr. Carlos Blair works with us . The folded questions are put in a wooden box in front of him on the podium where we can see them. He moves his hands through them until Dr. Blair tells him which one to pick up. Sometimes he holds it up to his 3rd eye or out to the side and Dr. Blair will tell him who it is for. He consults with your spirit people, and tells Dr. Ireland what to say. When Dr. Ireland calls your name you respond with yes, I am here, so a connection is made. Then he tells you the answer to your questions. And sometimes he even gives an answer to a question you didn't put in there, perhaps forgot to! For example, I brought my aunt one time. She said, “What do I ask?” I said, “Anything you want.” So she wrote "Is my father dead?" (She hadn’t seen him since she was a girl.) With her billet in hand Dr. Ireland called her name. He said, “Did you ask if your father was dead?” She nervously replied “yes.” “Well,“ he said laughing, your father, George has a sense of humor!” He says, "No I'm not dead - I'm standing right here!" Then Dr. Ireland said, “You also have two brothers here in spirit - Robert and Phillip is standing right next to your Dad. Now that did it for her, she started crying (with joy). She hadn't put her father’s name in the billet, nor had she asked about her brothers at all! And no one in our family even knew her brother Phillip was in spirit. The last communication with him was many years ago. They looked for him but never did found him. I feel so fortunate to have seen this wonderful phenomena so many times in the past 10 years. Just the look on peoples faces as they hear from their friends and loved ones for the first time, is priceless. Dr. Robert Ireland retired just a couple of years ago… but perhaps someday he’ll be inner prompted to put on the blindfolds again and thrill us again, along with so many that are just awaking to the truth of the continuity of life. |
