| “2000” It’s A New Year – Let’s Have A New Attitude! Now that the New Year, New Decade, New Century and New Millennium have begun, we find ourselves looking forward to new attitudes, new thoughts, new technology, new events. It is as if a new slate has been given us, a new page on which to write. In Italy, on New Years Day, it is the custom to discard old things - mismatched dishes, old bottles, old pots and pans, even old broken furniture - anything that can no longer serve its purpose. Sometimes the decision to discard is made ruthlessly, for we all love to hang on to old things, whether they are useful or not. Let us, at the start of this New Year, ruthlessly examine our old beliefs, our old thoughts, our old ways of living life and discard those that no longer serve us. Let us be willing to bury our past, with honor, and move into this sparkling new future in search of Truth. Let us throw away our old prejudices, old self-imposed limitations and be willing to look around us with clear eyes and an unfettered mind. Let us learn to trust our pure, innermost Self. When we encounter a new thought or new information if we allow it to resonate within us we will be able to discern if it is really Truth or a pale imitation. Our pure Self knows. Let us begin this new Era in expectation, excitement and faith - faith in ourselves, in others of like mind, and in our Beloved Creator. I send you love, light and joy. Rev. Anne D. Evans |
